Ireland (or Eire) was a nation-state on Earth, comprising the island of Ireland, one of the British Isles off the northwestern coast of Europe. Great Britain first invaded the Ireland in the 12th century, and held dominion over it for centuries, often marked by rebellion. In the 1920s, the island was divided, creating the Irish Free State (later the Republic of Ireland) and Northern Ireland (which remained part of the United Kingdom). In 2024, Ireland was reunited as a result of violence used as a political instrument. This event became known as the Irish Reunification of 2024. (TNG: "The High Ground")

People or things originating from Ireland are described as Irish.

Irish culture flourished and spread, as evidenced by the annual Irish Harp Festival. Ireland is also the home of Irish whiskey. (TOS novel: Enterprise: The First Adventure; Star Trek: Early Voyages comic: "Flesh of my Flesh").

Miles O'Brien was born in Ireland in 2328. His family lived in Dublin when O'Brien served aboard Deep Space 9. O'Brien claimed to be a descendant of Irish king Brian Boru. (DS9: "Homefront", "Bar Association")

The Bringloidi were colonists of Irish descent. (TNG: "Up The Long Ladder")

The Aldebaran Prime colony was also founded by Irish and Australian settlers. They named the planet's six moons after the six counties of Northern Ireland. (Kal-Dixas Spaceport, Star Trek: Pendragon, Star Trek: A Call to Duty)

Kathryn Janeway's dog Mollie was an Irish Setter, a breed of dog native to Ireland. (VOY: "Caretaker")

In 2376, Kathryn Janeway and other members of the USS Voyager crew enjoyed visiting Fair Haven (Cuan Soineanta in Irish), a holodeck creation of a 19th century Irish village. Tom Paris created the simulation. (VOY: "Fair Haven")
