The Iron Fang County was one of the counties of the Enemy's Blood Duchy and, by extension, the Lyran Star Empire.

The Iron Fang clan was demoted from duchy status in early 23rd century when Duke Varashar betrayed Lyra by giving information to the Kzinti Patriarchy, losing nearly all ships and status due to this heinous act. It took two generations for the rest of the Empire to look at that disgraced clan and, by the 2270s, they were still seen as pariahs in Lyran society. (Star Fleet Battles)
Clan fortunes and prestige have been known to change very rapidly; during the 2290s, its role in pushing back the Interstellar Concordium helped them rebuild their prestige. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Highly Illogical")
- It turned out to be the major victory at the First Battle at the Grave of Thoughts, where Virakas captured the flagship of the Interstellar Concordium Pacification Army's 4th Fleet, alluded to in the Star Trek: False Vacuum episode Structural Unemployment.
