Captain Jack Annand was the second commanding officer of the USS Cantabrian(NCC-24705) from 2330 until his mysterious disappearance in 2341.

History[]

Jack Annand took command of Excelsior-class Cantabrian after Captain Thekla Lawless's retirement in 2330.

During his time aboard the Cantabrian, he became known as a charismatic and charming commanding officer, making many successful first contacts with various Beta Quadrant powers. Drs. Eccleston and Tennant were chief medical officers during his tour aboard the Cantabrian.

In 2341, Annand disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Neither he nor his body was ever found, and Starfleet eventually declared him deceased.

In 2373, while investigating a mystery, Cantabrian Captain Noah Wrightson and Counselor Daniel Radke believed they may have found Annand but were mistaken. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "The Stars Fill The Sky, So In Love With You Am I")

It's not clear where Annand disappeared or under what circumstances.

Background information[]

  • The last name Annand is a play on John Barrowman's Doctor Who and Torchwood character, Captain Jack Harkness. Harkness and Annand are surnames from the same area in Scotland, with Annand being short for someone from Annandale, where the Harkness surname is thought to have originated from.
  • Doctors Eccleston and Tennant are tips of the hat to the actors who played Doctor Who during Barrowman's time on the show.
