Jackson Kellham "Jack" Bishop was a Starfleet science officer and line officer, on duty in the 23rd century. (Starship Valiant: Legacy, Penpals, The Ties That Bind; Dreadnought Dominion: Chain of Command)

In the late 2260s, the Constitution-class starship USS Valiant was heavily damaged and nearly destroyed during an engagement with ships of the Suculon Empire. The ship's commanding officer, Captain Clark, was fatally injured, and Lieutenant Commander Bishop -- then executive officer and chief science officer -- assumed command. After he was able to bring the Valiant to safety, and the ship was repaired and upgraded, Admiral Shelly Parker named Bishop as the ship's new captain. (Legacy)

Personal life[]

Bishop felt guilt over being an absentee father. His daughter Abigail chided him for that, especially when Bishop was away as his father, Jacob, was dying. (Legacy)

He was admired and respected by many of his fellow Starfleet officers, especially those who had served on the Valiant. When the USS Constar was rescuing and recovering survivors of the Battle of Wolf 359 decades later, Erick Minard played back one of Bishop's log entries to remind himself of the many ways his former captain had inspired him.
