Jago Merik was the commanding officer of the SS Ariadne. (Star Trek: Intrepid)

Early life and career[edit | edit source]

Jago Merik was born on Izar in 2345 (Terran calendar).

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Jago Merik was a native of Izar, and the archetypical Merchant Service Captain. Popular with his crew, he ran a relaxed ship. Merik was a man who relished the opportunity to explore the galaxy, but preferred the less rigid practices of the Merchant Service. He considered 'his' service the backbone of the Federation, and was often heard to comment that it was they "who do all the real work", as opposed to Starfleet who (in Merik's view) considered themselves the elite.

Memorable quotes[edit | edit source]

"We wouldn't want to be....overly reliant."
— "Heavy Lies the Crown"
"The Merchant Service may not have the spit and polish of Starfleet, but we can still teach you a few tricks."
— "Heavy Lies the Crown"
