Captain James Ashenfelder was the commanding officer of the USS Artemis (NCC-1992). He and 80% of his crew were killed when the Artemis was attacked by a then-unknown force in 2364. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "False Security", "Lady Lazarus")
- The USS Prospect (NCC-60056) discovered, years later, that Ashenfelder and the others were killed by a M'Tar attack.
