James Laws was a Federation Starfleet science officer and line officer on duty in the mid-23rd century. (Avalon Universe: "Ghost Ship", "Demons")

Commander Laws was the executive officer of the USS Excalibur. He, Captain Harris, and the officers and crew of the Excalibur were all killed during the M-5 Incident.

Before Laws died, he sequestered an artifact of unknown origin in the safe in his quarters, cabin 501 on deck 5, section Alpha. ("Ghost Ship")

Personal life[]

Laws had been in a relationship with Amanda Beck some years prior to his service on Excalibur. The relationship ended because their respective career paths would put them at opposite ends of the Federation. ("Ghost Ship")
