Jamie Archer was a Federation Starfleet engineer on duty in the mid-23rd century. (Avalon Universe: "Ghost Ship", "Avalon Lost", "Demons", "FTL NanoEncabulator", "Agent of New Worlds")
Archer's first deep-space assignment was on the USS Valiant, as an engineer, where then-chief engineer Eric Minard became a mentor. ("Avalon Lost", "FTL NanoEncabulator")
After the M-5 incident killed all personnel aboard the USS Excalibur, and severely damaged the ship, Lieutenant Archer was part of a small team selected by Commander Derek Mason to stabilize the ship's antimatter systems so it could be repaired. During this mission, the team encountered an energy based life form feeding on the ship's warp engines. The unknown life form had the ability to re animate the bodies of the dead crew, in order to use them as weapons. The life form was killed when Lt. Archer ejected the warp core and detonated it with the life form attached. ("Ghost Ship")
Archer was selected to be chief engineer of the Excalibur. ("Avalon Lost", "Demons") Shortly after this assignment Archer put out a Communiqué briefing on the "FTL Nanoencabulator" a non-existent component. The transmission was sent all across Starfleet as an homage to an ancient 20th century engineering joke about a magical -- yet confusing -- piece of non-existent technology. The transmission made use of nonsensical technobabble. The transmission was infamous among Starfleet engineers for its perfect translation into modern terms. Non-engineers were on the other hand, extremely confused by it, including her former Captain, Lance Ramirez.
During a mission in the Klingon Neutral Zone, Archer went EVA to repair the forward phaser emitters, where she was apparently killed. ("Demons", "Cosmic Stream")
Archer found herself in a dimension outside of space and time known as the Cosmic Stream. There she encountered Captain Derek Mason (also believed dead by Starfleet) and had to account for her actions in the death of the energy-based lifeform that they had previously killed. After opening her mind and allowing the lifeform's family to view the events, they chose to return both Mason and Archer to the Avalon Universe at time four years after their apparent deaths. Their shuttle was detected by Starbase 6, where Admiral Kelvar Garth dispatched the USS Yorktown to pick them up. ("Cosmic Stream")
Archer and Mason were later informed by Commander Mikaela Allenby that Ramirez and Beck had been declared missing in action after disappearing on an away mission 2 1/2 years before, in 2271. {"Agent of New Worlds")

Prime Universe[]
Jamie Archer had a doppelgänger in the Prime Universe who was also part of a team assigned to stabilize the USS Excalibur's systems after the M-5 Incident in 2268.
- If there was a Prime Universe Amanda Beck, she was not part of that team. ("Agent of New Worlds")
