Jana Haines

Jana Haines was a Federation Starfleet officer on active duty in the 23rd century.

By 2268, Ensign Haines was a navigator and science officer on the USS Enterprise during James T. Kirk's first five-year mission. (TOS: "The Gamesters of Triskelion")

While the Enterprise was undergoing refit, Haines had been promoted to lieutenant and had transferred to USS Hornet as a navigator. (Orion Press) After Enterprise's refit was complete, Haines transferred back to the ship as a lieutenant commander in 2273.

On the Oberth-class science ship USS Cooper, commanded by Captain Hikaru Sulu, Haines was a helm officer for over ten years. She died during the Battle of Xantharus IV. (Orion Press: "Return to Xantharus")

Haines was duplicated along with the rest of the Enterprise and crew during a journey to Vulcan in 2268. It is not known which ship and crew was the original and which was the duplicate. Haines was on duty when the Bibliothèque arrived to answer the ship's distress call. Using the helm scope, she estimated the strike cruiser had firepower equivalent to the entire line of Constitution class ships.

Later, she was one of 47 who survived the destruction of the Enterprise at the hands of a rogue faction of the Adeptus Mechanicus. At the end of the Starfleet crew's mission to restore the derelict USS Miranda and Enterprise (NX-01), Haines chose to join the Blood Ravens as an assistant alongside Pavel Chekov, Roger Lemli, and Yoqra.
