Jeff Sanderson

Jeff Sanderson, or "Sandy" as he was commonly known to his friends and colleagues, was a human Starfleet officer who served in the late 24th century. From 2370 onwards, he served as the primary helm operator for the USS Repulse. (Star Trek: The Nomad Frontier)

Early Life

Sandy was born on an offworld colony on October 4, 2344.

Starfleet Academy

Sandy graduated with the class of 2366. This class is sometimes referred to as "The Walking Dead". Six months after their graduation, nearly 20% of them were killed by the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359. As a result of this, graduates of this particular class are sometimes referred to as having been cursed. (ST: TNF "Baptism of Fire")

Early Career

While at the Academy, Sanderson wanted to be a fighter pilot. Unfortunately for him, the cooling conflict with the Cardassians meant that not as many pilots were needed, so he was cut from the program. He would go on to spend the first four years of his career as a shuttle pilot assigned to Starbase 47.

USS Repulse

Finally, in 2370, Sandy got his opportunity to pilot a starship. That year he was assigned to the USS Repulse, as the chief of astro-navigation. Although he considers it an improvement from flying shuttles, he is still somewhat bitter at not being able to fly fighters, and he is often unhappy with the minimal amount of work that he has to do while helming the Repulse.

Personal Life

His closest friend aboard the ship is Ensign Androvar Kovax, who mans the ops station beside the helm. In 2371, he began a romantic relationship with Lieutenant Kaitlyn Chandler. (ST: TNF "Archangel")
