Lieutenant Jenna McFarland was a Trill/human hybrid who served in Starfleet during the 24th century. She was assigned as a conn officer aboard the USS Excelsior in 2377. Even though McFarland was the head of her department, she frequently took the unpopular duty shifts, and was rarely on alpha watch.

While on vacation in 2383, she assisted Admiral Ian Knapp in the search for his missing daughter. (Star Trek: Hidden Frontier: "Past Sins")

During the Final Days of the Archin conflict in 2386, Admiral Shelby gave temporary command of the USS Helena to McFarland. During which Captain McFarland disobeyed direct orders to return to base and undertake a rescue mission to save Lieutenant Dias and Dr. Henglar from the Orion Syndicate vessel Vaptest.

Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions

McFarland was a classmate and friend of Corey Aster at the Academy. McFarland, along with Jeremy Aster and Jason Munoz, told Ro Nevin they were worried about Corey Aster, who had gone missing. Under Ro's command, the quartet found Corey Aster being attacked by three townies for a prank he'd played on them days earlier. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Dream a Little Dream of Me")

Memorable quotes

"I want a raise. And hazard pay. And one of those fuzzy lollipops Henglaar keeps in his desk. Second drawer, in the back. Behind the proctology...doohickey."
— Lt. Jenna McFarland to Admiral Ian Knapp, about to pilot a shuttle through a dangerous region of the Briar Patch, "Past Sins", Star Trek: Hidden Frontier
"Mr. Pelas, when we do find Traya, I have one word for you: deodorant. And...and if the container says one application...do two. Trust me. You too, Ian."
— Lt. Jenna McFarland, after spending days in a shuttle with limited hygiene facilities, "The Widening Gyre", Star Trek: Hidden Frontier

Background notes
