Jennifer Watley was a Starfleet scientist on active duty in at least the 23rd century.

Graduating in the top ten percent of her class at Starfleet Academy, Ensign Watley, just like her friend and roommate, Aliz Bathory, drew the USS Lexington (NCC-1709) as her first assignment. Watley was a life sciences officer specializing in xenobiology.

In 2268, and now a Lieutenant, she was transferred to USS Enterprise, where she encountered Dr. Julian Bashir and Chief Miles O'Brien, engaging in a mild flirtation with Dr. Bashir in one of the Enterprise's turbolifts. (DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")

Lieutenant Watley was beamed off the Enterprise, along with most of the rest of that starship's crew, during the M-5 wargames tests in which the entire crew of USS Excalibur was killed and Lexington badly damaged. (TOS: "The Ultimate Computer") Voluntarily transferring back to the Lexington, Lieutenant Watley was horrified to find that many of her former shipmates and friends were numbered amongst the injured and slain.

Early life

While on a camping trip with her family in Colorado, Jennifer nearly drowned when she was pulled underwater by the rapidly flowing current of a river near which her family had made camp.

Starfleet Academy

Graduated in the top ten percent of her class, specializing in xenobiology and life sciences

USS Enterprise

Transferred to Enterprise following her promotion to lieutenant in 2267. Returns to Lexington following events of the M-5 test trials.

USS Lexington second tour

In 2267, during her second tour on the Lexington following the M-5 disaster, Lieutenant Watley continued the relationship that she had begun with the new senior navigator, Lieutenant Morgan Bateson, who had transferred to the Lexington from the Hermes-class scoutship USS Cody.

Family and personal life

Dr. Julian Bashir believes that Jennifer Watley might be his great-grandmother, however, at this time that can be neither confirmed nor denied.
