John Boswell was a 24th century Starfleet officer, the father of Richard Boswell and husband of Helen Boswell. He served as the chief engineer of the USS T'Plana-Hath (NCC-29350) at the rank of commander.

In 2344, John was crippled during a minor skirmish with a hostile alien species and forced to retire. His son followed in his footsteps and entered Starfleet Academy nine years later.
