Just Between (series)

Just Between was a famous femslash fan fiction of Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager. It was created by Gina L. Dartt, and ran for five seasons from February 1998 to January 2001. Each season consisted of ten episodes.

Background

The series was written and began shortly after the events in "Prey" and "Retrospect". The series centered around the romantic relationship between Captain Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine and their adventures on board the USS Voyager. The series began in the fourth year of Voyager's journey home and sets off with the beginning of a romantic relationship between Janeway and Seven. Later other characters also take on a prominent role in the stories, such as B'Elanna Torres, the Doctor, Kes and Ro Laren. The entire cast of Voyager was portrayed in the series and a few others were added to fill in guest roles.

The series was best known for its accurate portrayal of the characters from the actual TV-series, excellent continuity and realistic character development.

The series was rather unique within femslash fan fiction because of its long time run and because it followed canon relatively closely. Its installments took place in between the actual canon episodes of the TV-series (hence the series' name). However from the 38th installment on, the story lines completely departed from the events in the television show just after the events that took place in "The Haunting of Deck Twelve".

This occurred because Gina L. Dartt no longer felt she agreed with the course the TV-series was taking and was no longer able to combine the events of Just Between with the events of the canon universe.

To the femslash online community, Gina L. Dartt's writings are considered to be the prime source of reference on how to create continuity, character development and accurately portray the characters of the canon Star Trek universe.

Sequel

Just Between has a still running sequel series Star Trek: Millennium, which has reached the end of its second season. Both series' can be read on Gina L. Dartt's Home Page: Novel Expectations formerly known as The Captain's Quarters.
