Doctor Justin MacMillan is the Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Dauntless. (Star Trek: Dauntless)
Early life and career[]
Justin Gregory MacMillan was born in Glasgow, Scotland on Earth in 2336. For as long as Greg could remember, he wanted to be a doctor. When other children were asking for toys, he was asking for diagnostic equipment. He worked hard throughout school to gain his appointment to Starfleet Academy. To gain experience, he joined a local ambulance unit as a technician, volunteered at his mother’s office and the local hospital. He published his first scientific paper at the age of 17 while still a senior in High School. He entered Starfleet Academy in 2353.
Starfleet career[]
Once at the Academy he continued to push himself, volunteering for anything that would garner him research experience, even if not in his field. As a result of hard work and dedication he was cited twice as a cadet and graduated with honors. His continually mounting publication record assured his placement at Starfleet Medical, where he began studying in 2357.
In 2361, MacMillan was awarded the Pasteur Award for Outstanding Medical Research. He graduated Starfleet Medical as Valedictorian in 2362, following which he worked his two year post-doctoral fellowship on the planet Nisus.
Finally, in 2364, MacMillan was assigned to the medical department aboard the starship USS Phoenix at the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade). Just over two years later he was reassigned to the USS Endeavour, aboard which he barely survived the Battle of Wolf 359 against the Borg.
In 2369, MacMillan was promoted to full Lieutenant and assigned as a medical officer on one of the colony worlds within the Cardassian Demilitarized Zone. Two years later, he was reassigned once again as a medical officer aboard the USS Galen. This assignment lasted until his next promotion in 2374, when he was promoted to Lt Commander and assigned as a medical officer aboard the USS Arcturus-A. Less than a year later, he left the Arcturus and accepted a position as an instructor at Starfleet Medical.
In 2377, MacMillan’s Academy assignment was completed and he transferred to starbase Deep Space 7. In 2379 he was transferred to the Federation Colonial Medical Service, and in 2381 he was promoted to full Commander and assigned as Chief Medical Officer at the newly formed colony of New Caledonia, a low tech agricultural colony near the Romulan Neutral Zone.
Aboard USS Dauntless[]
In mid-2383, MacMillan was pulled out of his assignment at New Caledonia to replace the Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Dauntless, a Bajoran officer who had recently been lost in the line of duty.
