The K'mpec class was a type of heavy warship fielded by the Klingon Empire during the 24th century. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 3: Ships of the Klingon Empire)

The K'mpec's basic design was based on that of the Vor'cha class, but was increased to a larger hull size. The warp nacelles were moved backwards slightly so to create a more efficient warp field and had the upper wedge-shaped module closer to the hull to reduce its vulnerability. The bridge module was also moved to the ventral side of the forward shaft.

The class began production in 2376 and was named after the former Klingon Chancellor of the same name. Several interests in the Klingon Empire argued against this class, instead pushing for the Negh'Var class to be put into widespread production instead of the vessel being limited to the flagship. In the end Chancellor Martok rejected these calls and put the K'mpec into production.
