Ka'al is a Class H planet and is the homeworld of the Oralian sector species known as So'ja. First contact with the Federation came in 2373. Starfleet fround the planet to be dry, with only one major ocean, which was rather small. Minimal vegetation and animal life allowed for the ancestors of the So'ja to be easier conquered and subjugated by the Oppressors. Once they rebelled, they built central "oasis" cities, using stolen Oppressor technology to develop replicators to generate enough water for their rapidly growing population. (Star Trek: Pioneer)
