The class was a powerful frigate and was designed for long-term border patrols. The vessel was of sturdy design and had an advanced structural integrity field system giving it a strong hull. The class made use of four warp nacelles and had a short and thick main body and short neck connecting to its forward command module that combines elements of the Vor'cha class and the D7 class.
