Chau was a third-generation Martian colonist, born in to a prestigious family.
Starfleet career[]
A surgical internship with Leonard McCoy and a keen interest in xenobiology helped him become one of the best doctors in Starfleet.
It was Dr Chau's interest in alien physiology and treatment helped secure his posting to the diplomatic vessel USS Mandela
