The Kendra Valley Massacre was an infamous event during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor wherein 42 members of the Bajoran Resistance were killed after their stronghold's location was revealed to the Cardassian Guard by a collaborator in 2368. In 2370 Vedek Bareil Antos was implicated as the collaborator in question, forcing him to withdraw his candidacy for Kai of Bajor. However, Major Kira Nerys discovered that Bareil had an alibi and was trying to protect the memory of former Kai Opaka Sulan. Opaka had ordered her aide Prylar Bek to give the partisans' locations to the Cardassians to stop them from killing over 1,200 civilians in hopes of eliminating the Resistance cell.
