Ensign Ava transferred to the Potemkin after Lieutenant Commander Charles Richards had been killed in action, and succeeded by then-Lieutenant Darrell Frazier. (Unspoken) She was noted as having difficulties with her superiors, including Frazier and the assistant chief of security, Lieutenant Tyler Landon. (Do No Harm)
Ava was at the bridge security station during an engagement with a disguised Romulan vessel. (Third Watch) She was part of a landing party that rescued two officers who had disappeared from the USS Kongo in 2267, 31 years prior. (Frazier's Angels) Later that year, she would be killed after a cave-in separated her and Doctor Da-Nak from other members of a landing party that included Landon. (Do No Harm)
An apparition of Ava seemed to appear to Landon sometime after her death. (Ladies' Night Out)
