Lovak was a Senior Investigator for the Vulcan Security Directorate. For several years, he had been stationed on the Vulcan colony world, Fa-do-far. (Chronicle: "Homecoming", "Unanswered Questions")
In 2410, he investigated the murder of a retired Starfleet officer. To this end, he created an AI -- called Lovak 2 using his personality as a template. Lovak ostensibly sent this AI to V'Nell to keep her informed of ongoing progress in the murder of a family member, as well as to experience the voyage of the USS Witch of Endor.
