MCDS Mitchellville began with what had been learned while rebuilding the first bloc of Klingon supplied K'Vort class bird of prey cruisers. Enough HAD been learned, that she didn't begin life in Klingon service, she began life as raw alloys and stockpiled parts. She also wasn't the first one to be wholly constructed within the Moab Confederacy, she was the fourth, and as with the other Bloc 2 models, she was designated as a Destroyer, rather than as a light Cruiser, though the roles remained largely the same.
MCDS Mitchellville's shakedown cruise under Lt. Colonel Marc Townshend was more like a combat patrol, including engagements against Moab Homeland Security forces over Base Alpha in the Confederacy's brief, but bloody, civil war. Lt. Colonel Townshend's tour as commander saw service in the New Saigon overwatch blockade group, before returning to Cold Butte for reassignment. (Colonel Townshend would be seconded to Liaison duty with the Denali Republic at the end of July of 2412)
The resolution of the Moab Civil War saw MCDS Mitchellville shifted to a reserve and mothball was discussed. However, the Government of the Confederacy has obligations. Under the Alliance Treaty, the Mitch was removed from the mothball list and freshened up, re-crewed, and chopped to Operation: Myrmidon, a Multinational probe into the Gamma Quadrant to aid and assist the Dominion against the H'urq.
MCDS Mitchellville collected a number of unit citations for this mission, and performed adequately.
