History[]
Malachor V had a long history of academic cheating, starting in 1760. Nevertheless, their legends about cheating charters became galactic legends as people flocked to this planet as a resort area. First claimed by the Lyran Democrative Republic after the LDR splintered from the LSE, its gambling industry flourished in somewhat less than 100 years, thus becoming dubbed the "casino capital" of the LDR (and later the Lyran Star Empire). ("No Child Left Untested")
However, after the Dominion War, the Kzinti Patriarchy attacked the planet, briefly holding it until a force led by Khre'Riov Suleanak recaptured the planet. ("Battle of Eight Beat")
Malachor V organized the Malachor Grand Prix, a soapbox car race, every year to commemorate the birth of the cheating charter system. Also, Stoneship-class ships featured red and yellow marble quarried on that planet. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Highly Illogical")
- The events of Star Trek: The Stoneship Files implied that the system was captured by the Klingons and reconquered by the Lyrans during the 2390s, as Malachor V held a court martial building for the Lyran Starfleet.
In late 2401, a tuition crisis arose on Malachor V where a planned tuition hike was largely impopular. For this reason, Brianna Reiss and Urie used an industrial replicator to replicate PADDs containing an holographic program called Tuition Crisis, whose original developer was Alaa, a doctoral history student at Osric University, a Klingon university, with the intent of raising awareness. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Rode the 300")
The largest Lyran holodeck theater operators, like Leacock, were headquartered on Malachor V. Also, Aldanna University and Lagdou University both had student associations on unlimited general strike, as well as taking part in a massive protest with five million protesters. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "The Defector")
The Valni Narrows was known as being the most difficult golf course in Lyran territory. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Pothole Omnium")

Production notes[]
Star Trek: The Stoneship Files and Star Trek: False Vacuum both drew elements from Star Wars to describe the Lyran Star Empire; however, some of these elements were described rather differently from their original setting.
Malachor V, in the Star Wars universe, was a Sith stronghold that was made uninhabitable through the use of a superweapon while, in Star Trek: The Stoneship Files, it was the premier Lyran resort world, comparable to Pacifica and Risa for the Federation.
