Marjal Jonar

Marjal Jonar was a joined Trill, second host of the Jonar symbiont, and a Starfleet officer.

His name is pronounced "mar-JAHL JOH-nahr".

History

Joining with the Jonar symbiont

Marjal was joined to the Jonar symbiont in 2261 in the break between his sophomore and junior years at Starfleet Academy.

Starfleet Academy

Marjal attended Starfleet Academy from 2259 until his graduation in 2263.

Aboard the USS Cantabrian (NCC-607)

Lieutenant Marjal Jonar joined the USS Cantabrian (NCC-607) crew as the third officer and chief science officer in the 2269.

By 2311, he was second officer and held the rank of commander aboard the Cantabrian. During the Tomed Incident, when the Cantabrian's first officer was killed, Jonar took over the position and helped Captain Thekla Lawless and the surviving crew escape in the saucer section.

Aboard the USS Cantabrian (NCC-24705)

When the USS Cantabrian (NCC-24705) launched in 2314 under the command of Captain Thekla Lawless, Commander Marjal Jonar was her first officer.

Beyond the Cantabrian

Marjal Jonar was eventually promoted to the rank of captain and given his own command.

He died in 2339, having been host to the Jonar symbiont for 78 years. The Jonar symbiont was transferred to Salin Jonar upon his death.
