Michael Emmett "Mike" Delaney was a Federation Starfleet helm officer on duty in the late 23rd century. (Project Potemkin: "The Void", "Doctor's Orders", "Archway", "Devil in the Details", "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky", "Duty Bound", "Second Contact", "Closing Time", "We Few...", "Destinies")
Delaney, a native of Xartheb, was the chief helm officer and third officer of the USS Potemkin.
Prior Starfleet career[]
Mike Delaney had been a veteran of the Battle of Serenidad in 2275. Then, he served aboard the heavy cruiser USS Wasp until it was mothballed. ("Closing Time")
- The Wasp may have been his first assignment after graduating Starfleet Academy.
His assignment immediately prior to the Potemkin had been aboard the Oberth-class science vessel USS Lowell. ("Doctor's Orders")
Delaney was one of the survivors of the Potemkin's destruction at the hands of Romulan vessels in 2299. ("Destinies")
Early life and family[]
Michael and his brother Robert were always competitive. Whatever one did, the other had to do too -- and better. Both entered Starfleet Academy. Robert amassed more awards than Mike did, and even attained captaincy. Unfortunately, Robert Delaney's command, that of the USS Medusa, ended in tragedy when the ship was destroyed. ("Devil in the Details", "We Few...")
