The Great Seal of the Mirak Star League
The Mirak Star League also known as the Kzinti Hegemony was a powerful stellar empire violently opposed to the Lyran Star Empire and allied (or rather, co-belligerents) with the Hydran Kingdom and eventually with the United Federation of Planets and the Gorn in the 23rd century. One of the most famous Mirak proverbs was: What you don't eat today will likely eat you tonight. The galaxy is full of empty bellies. Their ships were famous to carry a lot of photonic missiles in racks, each of which fed a missile launcher.
The official Mirak government was headed by the Patriarch in a way similar to the Kzinti Patriarchy. The Patriarch is traditionally given authority over foreign affairs, although, in practice, the strength of fleets posted at their borders is often a determining factor. To be a Mirak officer, let alone a command-level officer, was to be a survivor in harsh conditions, against terrible enemies and predators, both on the harsh surface of Mirak worlds, and in the cold dark vastness of space.
A rogue Mirak lord, Bishop Numida, became involved in piracy when he turned rogue, leading to Operation Telenoes. Also, Mirak cruisers or carriers had the prefix MRC, meaning Mirak Registered Cruiser (or Carrier.) (RIS Bouteina)
And Pazzo theorized that the tense situation between the Mirak Star League and the Lyran Star Empire stemmed not from the Mirak being from the same stock as the Lyrans, but from a question of sexism. (RIS Bouteina: "Marianela")

Background information[]
- Due to a copyright issue, Taldren was not authorized to use the term Kzinti in Starfleet Command II and had to use the term Mirak instead. It is likely that it was originally intended to be the Kzinti due to the use of the name (mentioned as an enemy of the Lyrans) in the manual for Starfleet Command Vol 1.
- RIS Bouteina established that Kzinti and Mirak were separate races.
