A mutiny is an unlawful attempt by military personnel to seize or overthrow military authority. For the purposes of this article, mutiny refers to any attempt by a starship's crewmembers to illegally take control of the vessel from its captain.
In 2372, the HMS Vosteage was the theater of a mutiny shortly after they repelled a Klingon raid led by the IKS Nav'Don over the legality of their cloaking device experiment, which violated the Treaty of Oxvind. The Hydrans who escaped the supposed destruction of the ship were court-martialled. (RIS Bouteina: "Vosteage")
