The Nacene were a highly-advanced sporocystian lifeform that originated outside the bounds of normal space, far beyond the Milky Way Galaxy. They were possessed advanced psychokinetic abilities which allowed them to manipulate matter and many types of energy. (Star Trek: Voyager)
History[]
While visiting the Milky Way in the distant past, the Nacene inadvertently caused severe devastation to the ecosphere of the Ocampa planet in the Delta Quadrant. One of their number remained behind to try to correct the damage, and became known to the Ocampa as the Caretaker. (VOY: "Caretaker")
From 2234 to 2347, the Nacene known as the Keeper became stuck on Flortarios III in the Alpha Quadrant after an attempt at mating injured him. When his lost energies were returned by Rikonen Gotens, he was able to leave. He later, in 2393, had grown his own asteroid colony of Ocampa in the Delta Quadrant where he lived on his own array and came under attack by the Kazon-Rokka for several months. After inadvertently bringing the USS Phoenix-X over from the Alpha Quadrant, he abandoned his array to stay with his Ocampa on its asteroid.
