Nancy Esther Suyati Sastrowardoyo (1973-1994) was a human female who lived in the late 20th century, on Earth. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose)
Sastrowardoyo was born in New York City and was the youngest child and only daughter of a consular official and a nurse. An imaginative child, she enjoyed reading comic books and writing science fiction stories in her journals. Her varsity letter in high school was in fencing.
At 18, Sastrowardoyo had been accepted to Cornell University, Wesleyan University and Yale University, but only had a full scholarship to the last. She double-majored in biology and anthropology, with plans to become a physician for Médecins Sans Frontières. In her junior year at Yale, she was part of a study abroad program in Indonesia.
Several months into the program, she and a few hundred other young men and women were abducted by forces loyal to Khan Noonien Singh, and held prisoner.
Two Starfleet officers from the 23rd century arrived in 1994 via the Guardian of Forever, in pursuit of a rogue Starfleet Intelligence agent who had created a divergent timeline. What was unclear to the two officers were the identities of the 20th century individuals upon whom the change depended.
Sastrowardoyo acted as a medic to some of the other prisoners. During an uprising by the prisoners, aided by the disguised Starfleet personnel, Sastrowardoyo was killed. She died not knowing that two of the men from the future were the descendants of one of her brothers.
Years after her death, a niece was named after her.
