Nathan J. Cross was Commanding Officer of the USS Eternity starting in 2384.

Personality[]

Nathan Cross was in many ways very much the stereotypical Starfleet starship captain. He was a decisive man of action with great concern for the safety of his crew, a surety regarding the rightness of the Prime Directive, and the drive to go where no man has gone before. He could also sometimes be driven by guilt stemming from the destruction of his previous command. He blames himself for the destruction of the USS Elsinore and the grievous injuries many of his crew suffered. This can sometimes make him place himself in danger needlessly rather than risk his crew.

Family[]

Nathan was unmarried. No children. He had an older brother named Matthew, also in Starfleet, deceased.

History[]

Nathan Cross' command previous to the USS Eternity was the USS Elsinore, a Norway-class class science vessel. While on a routine mission, the Elsinore was attacked by two Breen warships. Captain Cross managed to destroy both enemy ships, but at the cost of the Elsinore itself. There were no fatalities among his crew, but there were many severe injuries, including his first officer. Cross blamed himself. Starfleet found no fault with his actions, and offered him another command, the USS Eternity, assigned to explore the trans-Briar Patch sectors recently opened up to peaceful exploration after the conclusion of the Mulluran Wars.
