In 2751, Neilson had a Romulan girlfriend named Sabinus, Tanik's neice who had defected with him to the Federation. He broke it off with her, partly because she was Romulan.
In 2752, Neilson was aboard Starbase 001 and was displaying odd distracted behaviour when he ran into Rune Sith. ("New Beginnings")
