The Nelvek class was a type of heavy cruiser that saw service with the Romulan Star Empire during the 24th century. The class entered service in 2365. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire; The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
The Nelvek's main hull consisted of three parts: a rectangular central body with two wings that sweep forward and slightly ventral with the warp nacelles. The command hull was attached almost directly to the main hull and was similar in design to that of the D'deridex-class. A large structure was attached to the ventral side of the main hull and held the main deflector, torpedo launchers, main engineering, laboratories, sensors and related systems.
The designers placed a greater emphasis on crew comfort than usual making the design popular amongst Romulan personnel. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire)
