A neutron star is a very small, dense star composed largely of neutrons, formed from the gravitational collapse of a star's core left from a supernova. Some neutron stars, called pulsars, emit beams of electromagnetic radiation from their poles.

Annika Hansen theorized that the friction coefficient of a neutron star was the lowest of any object in the universe, because it would have an amount of electric charges so low that it would have no effect on friction and also because the asperities of neutron stars were thousands of times smaller than the asperities of silk.
