New London, Connecticut is a small city in the northeastern United States on Earth. Roughly halfway between New York City and Boston, Massachusetts, it was a major seaport on the east coast of North America.
Until World War III, New London was the home of the United States Coast Guard Academy. In the 23rd century, Starfleet Academy established its Advanced Engineering College on the grounds of the ancient service school, which eventually became the Starfleet Corps of Engineers Research Center.
