Nog

Nog was a Ferengi Starfleet officer from the 24th century. Nog had the distinction of being the first Ferengi to join Starfleet. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)

History

In 2372, Nog gained the support of Captain Benjamin Sisko for his application to Starfleet Academy. Later that year he would meet the entry requirements and left Deep Space 9 to attend the Academy at San Francisco, Earth. (DS9: "Heart of Stone", "Little Green Men")

In 2373, Cadet Nog was assigned to Deep Space 9. In the early months of the Dominion War he served on the USS Defiant and he was promoted to ensign. (DS9: "The Darkness and the Light", "Favor the Bold")

Following the conclusion of the war with the Dominion Nog was promoted to lieutenant JG in one of Captain Sisko's final acts before he disappeared. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

Legacy

USS Nog, an Eisenberg-class starship of the 32nd century, was named after him. (DIS: "Die Trying")

After the resolution of the Federation Civil War, Nog was given a field commission. As an engineer, he was eventually assigned to Project Restoration under Miles O'Brien, and it was Nog who worked out the technical aspects of transporting the Empok Nor station to the Bajoran system. During his time with the project, Nog befriended the Vulcan engineer, Vorik. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Restoration")

Star Trek Online timeline

By 2409, Nog held the rank of captain, and was the commanding officer of the USS Chimera. He served during the Iconian War of 2410, and the subsequent conflict with the Hur'q. (Star Trek Online: "Time In a Bottle", Victory Is Life)
