A political officer bears responsibility for the political education (ideology) and organization, and loyalty to the government of the military. This officer can serve aboard starships, space stations or even outposts or colonies.
In the 20th and 21st century, the Earth governments of the Soviet Union and People's Republic of China employed political officers.
