Historical[]

In 2293, a nearby moon, Praxis, exploded due to an accident involving over-mining. The subspace shockwave sent out by the explosion caused damage severe damage to Qo'noS's ozone layer, forcing planning for the evacuation of the planet. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

In 2475, a group of rogue androids attacked Qo'noS, which led to a deep-seated hatred by most Klingons toward androids by the 28th century. (Star Trek: 001: "Alone")

Geographical[]

Qo'noS has a single landmass and a vast ocean. The planet also has a severely tilted axis, which causes extreme weather shifts and wild seasonal changes. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")

D'k tahg Valley was a region of Qo'noS that was home to a district known to non-Klingons only as 90210. In addition, it was home to much of the Klingon entertainment industry, including television. (Star Trek: False Vacuum)

Cities[]

The capital of Qo'noS is First City. Other cities include Qam-Chee, Quin-lat, and Tong Vey.

Background[]

It remains unclear if the Qo'noS seen in ENT: "Broken Bow, Part One" is the same planet as seen in TNG and DS9 episodes, as the evacuation of the original Qo'noS was never seen on screen, but only mentioned at the 2293 Khitomer Conference.
