RBS Kira Nerys

The RBS Kira Nerys was a Breen Chok Thol-class frigate used by the Bajoran Militia Space Arm in the 2390s before being decommissioned in 2401. (Bait and Switch: "From Bajor to the Black, Part I", Bait and Switch)

History

The Kira Nerys was built in the 2320s and later sold second-hand to the Bajorans for use by their military. It was primarily assigned to customs enforcement duties and antipiracy patrols. ("From Bajor to the Black, Part I", "Remembrance of the Fallen")

Presumably the ship was renamed to Kira Nerys after being sold by the Breen Confederacy.

In the late 2390s the Kira was commanded by Colonel Karryn Retta, a Bajoran Resistance veteran. Kanril Eleya joined the ship's gunnery department as a lance corporal out of boot camp in 2397. ("From Bajor to the Black, Part I")

In 2399 the Kira was ambushed and boarded by an Orion Syndicate Buccaneer-class corvette, costing the lives of thirty crew members. Now-Sergeant Kanril defended the spinal phaser cannon long enough for Karryn to bring it to bear and destroy the attacker, then was badly wounded along with Private First Class Davos defending sickbay. Kanril was later awarded the Silver Cross for her actions. (Bait and Switch; The War of the Masters: "The Only Way to Go")

Following the shutdown of Space Arm by the Chamber of Ministers in 2401, the Kira was decommissioned. Members of the crew variously retired, transferred to other specialties, or joined Starfleet. ("From Bajor to the Black, Part I")
