Operation Return Battle of Betazed

The Raid on Coridan was a Dominion raid on the Federation planet of Coridan. The objective of the attack was to disrupt the dilithium mining operations on the planet. (DS9: "One Little Ship")

The Dominion forces led by the Vorta Gelnon broke through the a weak spot Federation's defences in the Benthara system and made their way to Coridan. Despite the significant defences of the planet included two Starfleet fleets, the Sixth and Sixteenth, the Dominion forces were able to force their way through to the planet with a brutal frontal attack that blasted a hole through the main defence perimeter. Once in orbit the Dominion forces bombarded the surface with ultritium concussion shells causing significant damage before the attackers were driven off.

In the aftermath of the battle at least two orbital defence stations were destroyed, several starships and over 1,500 miners were trapped in collapsed mines to slowly suffocate to death. The damage to the mining facilities, equipment and mines crippled production for months. (The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
