Rivera Gotens was a Starfleet officer in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. He lived on Trill in the 2230s before joining Starfleet. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X: "The Links' Traitor", "The Tilonian System")
History
Rivera was the fourth host to the Gotens symbiont. He took on the symbiont after the death of the previous host, Captain Laumar. Daniel was present during the transfer procedure, as he was responsible for bringing Laumar home to Trill.
Feeling a lack of desire to return to his duties for having experienced war, Daniel decided to stay on Trill for a while. There Rivera was befriended with Daniel and through friendship, somehow allowed Daniel a sort of rehabilitation process.
When Daniel was ready to return to Starfleet, Rivera decided he would too join Starfleet. Over the course of four years, Rivera went through Starfleet Academy.
By 2302, Rivera was a Lieutenant. He had taken part in a Federation Eelstock Convention where he was reacquainted with Daniel.
