The Romulan Ground Forces (RGF) was the army of the Romulan Star Empire. It works closely with the Romulan Star Navy, so much so that many mistake it for been part of the Star Navy when it is fact a separate entity. (LUG RPG: The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
All members of the RGF are trained at the Korath Tanar Military Training College on Derassa IV.
The RGF is organizes its forces slightly differently then most other militaries. The usual battalion, regiment, brigade order is re-arranged to brigade, battalion, regiment in the RGF. The RGF is organised in units of various sizes, from the smallest to the largest they are:
- ter'val (squad)
- rost'val (platoon)
- Al'gess'val (company)
- unsha'val (brigade)
- tresh'val (battalion)
- lagor'val (regiment)
- keth'val (division)
- barhet'val (legion)
The RGF fields three elite units, the Tal Shava (Imperial Marines), Teth Koros (Imperial Shrikes) and the Ventava Legion.
Rank structure[]
The RGF rank structure differs from the one used by the Romulan Star Navy. Most soldiers hold the rank of "Trooper". Above that in order are: Sergeant, Sublieutenant, lieutenant, captain, major, centurion/colonel, general. The officer that commands the entire RGF is given the rank Major-General. Prior to the Romulan Star Empire's entry into the Dominion War the RGF had over 500,000 soldiers split into five legions. Two of these legions were sent to fight in the conflict. (The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
