The SS Valiant was a Human Charleston-class starship launched in 2065.
Built by the European Hegemony the Valiant was commanded by Captain François de Compiegne. The Valiant encountered a temporary wormhole, which transported the vessel to the edge of the galaxy. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era)
- The TNG novel: The Valiant states that Valiant 's commanding officer was Carlos Tarasco. First assistant engineer Geirrod Agnarsson was the crewman who developed psi powers.
Within four years of the ship's launch, the Valiant had surveyed all of Sector 001. {Death of the Valiant, Earth's First Starship}
The Valiant then encountered a magnetic storm that overwhelmed its impulse engines, and swept the vessel into the galactic barrier, damaging the vessel. One of the crewman developed telekinesis and became a risk to the ship and crew. To stop this crewman the captain destroyed the Valiant.
Two centuries later, the fate of the Valiant was discovered when the USS Enterprise recovered the ship's recorder marker. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before")
