Sarek (2165-2368) was a Vulcan scientist and ambassador. (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; TNG: "Sarek")

Sarek was the son of Skon and the grandson of Solkar, first Vulcan ambassador to Earth. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, ENT: "The Catwalk") Sarek was married at least three times, to a Vulcan princess (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier), Amanda Grayson (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; TAS: "Yesteryear") and Perrin (TNG: "Sarek"). Sarek was known to have two sons, Sybok (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) and Spock.

Sarek was a direct descendant of Surak; thus, so were his sons. (Absolute Horizon)

The family estate of Sarek was at D'H'riset. (Orion Press: "Contempt of Council")

In 2368, Sarek died of complications related to Bendii's Syndrome. At the time, Spock was on Romulus to help united the Romulan and Vulcan peoples after the centuries-long schism. When Spock was able to return to Vulcan in 2369, he fulfilled his father's last wish by scattering his ashes in the garden of the villa once shared by Sarek and Amanda. (Orion Press: "I Never Said Goodbye")

Professional life[]

Sarek was appointed Vulcan's ambassador to Earth in 2224. Prior to this appointment, he had served as a technical attaché, and then a cultural attaché, on Betazed and Rigel IV. (Orion Press: "Reminiscing")

Other relationships[]

Sarek and Ambassador Kamarag of the Klingon Empire started as adversaries when they met in 2285 (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home), but gradually grew to be friends. ("The Death of Kings")
