Sean Dawson

Commander Sean Dawson was a Federation Starfleet engineer on duty during at least the early 24th century. He was the chief engineering officer of the Centaur-class cruiser USS Webster during the ship's maiden voyage in 2304. (Starship Webster: "Launch", "Opportunity")

Between the character's first two appearances, Dawson was apparently promoted from lieutenant to lieutenant commander.

Dawson was promoted to full commander when he succeeded Robert Hawkins as Webster executive officer and doubled as chief engineer. ("Bottles of Ale")

Biographical information[]

Sean Dawson is a Human who grew up working in an Orion ship breaking yard helping his parents disassemble ships from all over the quadrant. His family was held in indentured servitude until their ever-increasing debt from a business deal gone wrong was paid off.

However, the family managed to secretly assemble a small vessel from parts of ships from many different races and use it to escape to the Federation. As the result of his history, Sean tends to approach engineering problems with unique solutions that don't always meet Starfleet regulations.
