The rank of Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is unique in the Marine Corps. The holder of this post is the senior enlisted member of the Federation Marine Corps and is the liaison between the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the enlisted personnel of the Marine Corps. The rank is equivalent to Master Chief Petty Officer of Starfleet and Chief Master Sergeant of the Starfighter Corps.
