Skon was a Vulcan who served on the USS Yorktown (NCC-208) during the Earth-Romulan War. he was also father to Sarek of Vulcan and grand father to Spock.
Only known survivor of the Salem One Starbase. He didn't see the humans the same as most Vulcan’s and believed that Vulcan’s should embrace humans more than they have.
Skon practiced the tradition that a select few Vulcans do – that of tracing lineage (and history) back to the time when Vulcans and Romulans were one race. This history is not written, but a memory exercise passed on through generations of (very dangerous) mind melds. To speak of this history to anyone but the chosen ones (high priests / priestesses) was forbidden. Sharing with outsiders is considered sacrilegious, and sometimes death is the penalty.
