• 2233: Smitty is born on Earth in El Paso, Texas.
• 2249: Smitty enters Starfleet Academy
• 2253: Smitty graduates Starfleet Academy. He is promoted to Ensign. His first assignment is the USS Jenghiz as an Engineer.
• 2256: Smitty is promoted to Lieutenant junior grade and assigned to the USS Hood as an Engineer.
• 2259: Smitty is promoted to full Lieutenant and assigned to the USS Defiant as the Assistant Chief Engineer.
