Sonya Fiehrer

Lieutenant Commander Sonya Fiehrer was a Starfleet officer in the late 24th century.

Starfleet Career

In 2373, Sonya was a fighter pilot assigned to the USS Hastings, using the call sign "Moondance." In 2374, she was taken off the fighter pilot roster and assigned to accompany her friend and Hastings XO Patrick Ingrum to Aloran IV on a mission to retrieve personal effects from the planet. (USS Baldwin: "Wild Roses") As they left the planet, they found Bernie Tyler and Roslyn had crashed on the surface, and later when they discovered the USS Baldwin in orbit. She served aboard Baldwin on its initial voyages. (USS Baldwin: "The Find")

In mid 2374, she was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to the USS Ottawa as the operations manager. (USS Baldwin: "The Return of Khan")

In 2377, Sonya accompanied Jenna and Susan Cassoday to the surface of Grecon IV, where they discovered a major deposit of duranium. (USS Baldwin: "Like the Rain")

Personal relationships

Jenna Carson and Susan Cassoday

Sonya has known Jenna Carson and Susan Cassoday since they were children. The three grew up together in the same town. During their childhood, they had gone on a campout on Deneva when the weather modification network failed, causing it to rain. The three also camped out on Grecon IV in 2377, where a lightning strike disabled the runabout Verdigris. Later, when they returned to Ottawa, she bet Jenna seven slips of latinum that Bernie Tyler and Roslyn would be “snogging each other” when the turbolift they were riding in open on the bridge, which she won. Johnathan Bucyrus

Sonya had Johnathan in flight training. During one evening, he saw Sonya coming out of late-afternoon dance class. He responded with a line from Van Morrison's song "Moondance," leading to its use as Sonya's call sign. Johnathan would become the head of Sonya's flight team on the Hastings. Johnathan also borrowed her fighter on at least two occasions, including the battle in which the Hastings was lost. (USS Baldwin: "Wild Roses")
