Sonya Guadalupe Gomez was a Federation Starfleet engineer -- and later line officer -- on duty in the late 24th century. (TNG: "Q Who?", "Samaritan Snare", LD: "First First Contact")

In 2381, Captain Gomez was the commanding officer of the Obena-class USS Archimedes. She and Captain Carol Freeman of the Cerritos were apparently old friends. ("First First Contact")

Previous Starfleet assignments[]

In 2365, then-Ensign Gomez was assigned to the Operations division of the USS Enterprise-D as an engineer who specialized in antimatter. ("Q Who?", "Samaritan Snare")

Alternate continuities[]

In the continuity of the novels published by Pocket Books, Gomez transferred off the Enterprise-D to the USS Oberth, where she was promoted to lieutenant, in 2368. (Starfleet Corps of Engineers novellas: Invincible, Part II, Many Splendors)

Seven years later, during the Dominion War, Gomez was a lieutenant commander and chief engineer of the Akira-class USS Sentinel. In 2376, she was promoted to full commander and transferred to the Saber-class USS da Vinci. Here she was the executive officer and tasked with leading the ship's Starfleet Corps of Engineers contingent. (Belly of the Beast, Many Splendors) She succeeded David Gold as the da Vinci's commanding officer when he retired in 2380. (Star Trek: The Next Generation novel: A Singular Destiny)

Star Trek Crusader[]

In this continuity, Gomez had only risen to the grade of lieutenant by 2388. She was chief engineer of the Sovereign-class USS Federation.
